we have an acer x1130p projector and some websites say that it is 3d compatible but is it the right type of 3d? is there anything i need to get like a special screen or a certain media player? and what movies would work with it.I do have 2 pairs of polarized glass's.

Answer
If the projector is labeled for 3D, then you can view 3D material from a PC when certain Nvidia products are also installed. You would need a compatible Nvidia graphics card installed on your computer, along with the glasses made by Nvidia (your polarized glasses would not work): http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_Main.html .

Someone on the internet wrote that Acer sells two projectors with that same model number, but only one of the models is 3D compatible, so look on the projector or in the manual (or call Acer tech support) before investing in any Nvidia accessories.

Also be aware that the 3D media available with that system is very limited (you aren't going to find "Up" or "Avatar"). The "movies" are more demonstration reels right now: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_3D_Movies.html . I think most people use the system for gaming instead of watching those demos.

The 3D specification for Blu-ray has been finalized, so in the future it may be possible to use that projector to watch feature films in 3D on Blu-ray, but there is no guarantee of that compatibility.

is the ps3 3d upgrade compatible with the panasonic 3d hdtv?

I know this is probably a dumb question, but I have a PS3, and it is 3D capable (or will be with software update).
Panasonic gives a pair of glasses with their 3D HDTV's, Samsung doesn't.
WILL the PS3 work in 3D with ANY of the new 3D tv's?
I don't want to pay for the TV AND GLASSES separately, and besides I have seen both Samsung and Panasonic 3D systems, and the Panasonic looks better (and costs $500 less).

Answer
The PS3 will be compatible with all new 3D TVs.

The new 3D specification was a collaborative effort by a group called the Blu-Ray Disc Association which consists of dozens of major electronics manufacturers (e.g. Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, etc.), content producers and industry experts.

What this means is, there is one single finalized 3D standard upon which all companies have agreed upon and implemented so there is no need for consumers to worry about compatibility issues. Every 3D Blu-Ray player, set-top box and game console will work with every 3D TV regardless of the manufacturer.

The BDA 3D spec allows manufacturers to use different types of technologies for producing the 3D effect (e.g. shutter-glasses, polarized lenses, holographic projection etc). But in the end, whatever 3D display you're using, it must be compliant with the specification and accept a standard 3D signal from whatever video source you connect it to.

As a side note, the universal HDMI 1.4 specification also implements new protocols that further extend support for digital 3D video transmission between 1.4/3D compliant devices.
