Eight Bit
What type of player should I be trying to get.
Answer
LG and Panasonic tend to be the higher rated brands.
You have 3 different levels of players to choose from:
* Basic players
* 'Smart' players with wireless that include streaming services
* 3D players
Unless you have a 3D television, I recommend you purchase just a good basic player. If you decide you want 'smart' features, look into a small media server like the WD TV Live box for $99. This has more apps than any BluRay player, gets updated more frequently and in general works a lot better than the apps "added in" to a player.
Try www.bestblueraydeals.com for Amazon vendors who offer slight discounts.
For an HDMI cable, I like the "Media Bridge" brand from Amazon. Prices run $9-$20 depending on length.
Hope this helps.

I'm looking to buy a Blu-Ray Player for around $150 price range. Am I better off buying a 3d ready one?

3D vs a normal Blu-Ray. Looking to stick around $150 price range, and buy at a brick and mortar store. Should I just buy the 3D ready Blu-Ray player now, or am I better off waiting? Will I need to buy a 3D capable TV in order to get use from the 3D Blu-Ray player? This is the one I'm considering.... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+3D/Internet+Connectable/Wi-Fi+Ready+Blu-ray+Disc+Player/9754669.p?id=1218167391755&skuId=9754669
Answer
Why not? The difference in price is minimal but if you buy a 3D TV in the future your going to have to replace the whole thing. Make sure you get a Blu-Ray with wifi installed. The rip-off is the $80 wireless adapter you have to buy separately if you buy a wifi-(ready) player
