My Sony DVD blue ray player audio is out of sync with my LCD video tv.?

I have been racking my brain to try and correct but no matter what I have done and read I have not found a solution. My TV is a Samsung, but I don't believe it makes a difference. Has anyone run into this problem and has a solution? Thanks.

usually when the blu ray player and TV are the same brand, they will sync up, but different brands do not. So here's what's going on. Most LCD TVs have lag, and it's really bad when 120hz or 240hz is active. It takes extra time to complete the calculations for 'frame interpolation' that's what 120hz TVs are really doing. Get into the TV menu and turn off this feature. There are other issues that could cause this, but this is the most common.

I have a Philips LED/LCD TV and a Philips blu ray. When the TV is in 60hz or 120hz, the audio is always in sync. But when I had a Sony LCD with the same player, audio was in sync for 60hz, and out of sync with 120hz.

Answer
A Blu Ray player will play on any TV with an HDMI port. That Dynex model has 3 HDMI ports.

But I would seriously discourage getting this model as your primary Blu Ray TV. It's only 720p (1280x720) instead of 1080p (1920x1080).

It also features a 60Hz response rate. Older non-widescreen TVs often had 30Hz response rates. High end HDTVs can have 120-240Hz response rates. That is the amount of frames moving past your eyes per second. 120Hz is considered a minimum for a quality HDTV.

So if this TV is replacing an older non-widescreen TV and it will only get moderate use, go for it. If this is going in your living room and you plan to watch Blu Rays with your family, this is not an appropriate model.

I have a 2D HDTV should I get a 2d Blu-ray player or 3D?

I have a 720p 2D HDTV and am looking at 2 blu-ray players that are not too different in price, one is a 3D player and another is a regular Blu ray. I'll put the links below.

My question is....since I'll only be playing regular DVDs and maybe some blu-ray discs on the player, will the quality not be as good on the 3D compared with the 2D since it will be downsizing (not sure if thats the right work lol)

If all things are equal I would want the 3d one in case I get a 3D tv in the future at some point, but my priority is having the best quality picture for the TV I have right now...

Right now the best picture quality is achieve through a high definifion player (bluray, hd media player) ,an HD TV(plasma, led, lcd) and lastly HD softwares(bluray disc, hd broadcasts).

3D TVs are not TVs entirely dedicated to displaying 3D images; they're super-slim high-specification HDTVs with just another feature added on top. Thankfully, you can turn the 3D feature on and off, otherwise you'd probably end up with the mother of all headaches. But they do tend to need much higher refresh rates (240Hz compared to around 100Hz of a good quality digital TV), which effectively means you get a better picture in 2D whether or not you make the most of the 3D functionality.

the price you pay for being one of the first people to own a 3D TV (apart from the high price) is that there is comparatively little 3D content around yet, so there won't be much to show off to your neighbours. And if you want to watch 3D movies on DVD, you'll have to fork out a fortune on a dedicated 3D player.

To answer your question the hz thing is on the HDTVs NOT Blu-ray players. Plasma HDTVs automatically are 600Hz nothing lower and so far nothing higher yet. LED and LCDs started out with 60HZ, then 120Hz on some and it cost more to get it. Now 120Hz is at the price of what a 60Hz LED and LCD TVs use to be, and 240Hz is at the price of what a 120Hz use to be after it came out for a year and half.

As for Blu-Ray players, good ones to look at and pick from:

best blu ray player for picture quality?

do all blu ray players give off the same 1080p hd picture? i no the higher the hz the smoother the picture, but i cant afforded a resolution over 60hz. ive seen alot of bluray players but there all about wifi and app connections. i dont care about that. i just want to watch movies

Okay, so I bought an external blu ray writer and am concerned about the quality I will receive after connecting my pc to my tv. Will my computer in any way limit the overall quality my tv will display? I asked this question of amazon, please read the conversation below.

Chadwick:Wow what a question Zachary, being honest I'm not sure. But from experience I basically get the same quality from the actual movie or blu ray. The quality of the computer's screen wouldn't affect the out put through the hdmi. So it should be high definition right though.

Wow, I'm giving this some thought.
This is a very good question.
I think if your Television has a higher resolution than that of your computer screen then while watching a hd movie while connected to your computer through a hdmi cable. You would see a clearer resolution from the television. You wouldn't be limited to the screen of the computer. But while just surfing the net or doing regular stuff from the computer you would be limited to the quality of the computer monitor.

Me:How could the two activities produce different results?
Chadwick:Let me illustrate for you. Do you own a playstation or xbox?

I see where you're going with your illustration, but it doesn't seem quite the same. Neither of those provide screen duplication or extension.
Chadwick:Okay if you were to play call of duty which the quality is 1080p (this is the quality the disc contains) then if you play on a regular tv lets say a TV with the resolution of 720p Then that's the maximum out put you would get because that's the limit the TV has while the disc can give you the full 1080p. if you had a TV that can give the full 1080p then you would see the full quality of the disc.

Me:I understand that. However, in your illustration my pc would be a PS3. I'm worried about my graphics card limiting the processing of the resolution. I think the output resolution from my pc to tv will be determined on the quality of my computer, not the quality of my tv. Say the disc I want to play is 1080i, but my tv can only process 720, I dont think it will be able to jump from 1080 to 720 back to 1080.

Chadwick:Well I guess in this case it may have to be trial and error. You have a good point also. So if the blu ray writer drive doesn't work out for you then you'll have a month to decide if you want to return for a refund.

Me:I wish there were an easy way to determine quality based on appearances. Being that it will be my first blu ray player I wont have anything to to compare the results against.
Chadwick:I agree, and as far as it goes for blu ray players I use my PS3 so I really don't know how best to advise you in this case. I just think it will be trial and error.

Me:I guess the only way I'll know for sure is hooking it up to my tv and comparing it to my computer screen. If it's the same quality then I'll have to return it.

- What resolution is your tv? What is your computer model number and/or graphic/video card model number?
= No your computer monitor has nothing to do with what resolution is sent through the video cable to the tv..... = BTW, when your doing dual/clone screen or extended screen your using two separate cables right? If your using a splitter cable or something then please look below at the bottom.
= Your computer's graphics/video card has the abilities of how high of a resolution it can send (depends on the card and what video cable your using). = If your using hdmi, your graphics card should do at least 1920x1080p/24bpp/60hz.
- (If video cable is transferring 1080p, but tv is 720p, tv will downscale it to 720p). (If video cable is transferring 720p, but tv is 1080p, tv will upscale it to 1080p). (= I recommend you choose the same resolution to output on the graphics card to match the same resolution on the tv so there is no scaling). (= 1080p movie/game will look better than a 720p movie/game even if your only transferring 720p over the video cable and receiving 720p on the tv).

= (Video cables: DisplayPort, HDMI or DVI carry digital video). (DVI, VGA, Component, Scart, S-Video, or Composite carry analog video).
- DisplayPort cable (v1.2 four lane link): Up to 4096x2160p/24bpp/60hz or 2560x1600p/48bpp/60hz or 1920x1080p (48bpp/120hz or 24bpp/240hz or 24bpp/120hz for 3D). (DP v1.1a two lane link is similar to high speed HDMI v1.4).

I need a good home theater system?

I just bought a 47in lcd 240hz tv and blu ray player also. I want to get a nice sounding maybe 5.1 Home theater system. I like the bose but I think they are way to expensive, so does nyone have some good ones in mind?

Definitely do not go with Bose when you can get far better sound, quality, and value from other manufacturers. I would also recommend not getting a home theater in a box (HTIB) setup as they limit you for future expandability and upgradability. Bose offers small, sleek, and simple setup, with a lot of marketing to back them up, but excellent quality they are not.

How come standard blu-ray players and hd tvs can't do 3D?

Isn't it just possible to make a blu-ray movie 3D compatible by having each frame a double image of what would otherwise be a single image 2D picture? It doesn't seem to me that hardware would have to change at all but rather what is written to the blu-ray disk. Could anyone tell me why hardware must change as well?

Most HD TV's are not fast enough to play 3D 3D is actually 2 interlaced pictures sent one after the other very fast, also the DVD has be able to send a signal to the TV telling it to switch back and forth from picture to picture in synchronization...then the TV also sends a signal to the glasses you wear which also shutter very fast from the right eye to the left so that you are only seeing one complete picture at a time in each eye....this is why most 3D TV's are also 240Hz TV's because of the speed needed to produce two pictures, at the same time that most HD TV's only send one picture 3D is sending two. There are aftermarket devises that will make your TV or projector 3D if its fast enough to handle the speed.......

What should I look for in a good gaming/movie watching TV?

I just bought a ps3 and i want to be able to optimize both the blue ray player and the gaming graphics. there is so much that i do not know about television technology please do help

To get the most out of the Blu-ray player, you will want to get a TV that provides a 1080p picture. Keeping in mind that for seating distances beyond about 6ft with a 42" TV or 8ft with a 50" TV the benefits of 1080p over 720p decline quickly.

Plasma still provides the best picture quality in terms of contrast ratio and lack of motion blur. For gaming, this lack of motion artifacts can be very beneficial. However, they are more prone to reflections and getting washed-out in bright rooms than LCDs. Plasmas are also significantly cheaper than LCDs, especially compared with the pricey LED-based LCDs.

If you choose to go with an LCD, definitely go with a 120hz or, ideally, a 240hz model. The LED-based LCDs generally, but not always, provide better contrast ratios, but not quite up to plasma specs. Pay no attention to advertised "dynamic contrast ratios". This is a marketing gimmick with little real world applicability. Instead, check out specific model reviews from CNET for analysis of true contrast ratio capabilities.

In terms of brands, Panasonic and Samsung both make excellent plasmas and LCDs. The Panasonic G-series plasma is probably the best TV buy you can make in terms of overall picture quality vs price (see Amazon link below for more info). The Samsung LED-based LCDs are also beautiful - but not cheap.
