Do I need a blu-ray player to run smart tv applications on my LG 3D TV?

I recently got an LG 3D Smart TV and donât have knowledge about its features and applications. How can I get access to smart applications?

You don't need a blu-ray player to run smart TV apps. All you need to have is internet connectivity in order to use Smart TV apps. You will need a blu-ray player to play 3D blu-ray movies. However you can watch 3D videos online by using smart apps on your LG TV.

I personally would steer clear of Sony because they constantly want you to upgrade your firmware. I did this with my PS3 and am having the same cinavia problem. Your best bet of course is to find one made pre-Feb 2012, but close enough before the date so it doesn't ask you for a firmware update. Unless you are rich and can afford the Oppo, they are the only ones pretty much guaranteed to never have a problem. Hope this helped some.

I have installed all the firmware files on their website.

I have bought 3 different high speed hdmi cables

tried every setting possible on tv

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get this thing to work please? Screen is just blank, everything is new...my other blu ray player works fine...this is crazy.

Are you trying to do 1080p60? If so, try 1080p24 or 1080p30

OR are you trying to output 3D on a non 3D HDTV? You can't do that.

Do you need to play 3D blu ray disc on a 3D blu ray player to watch it in 3D or can I use a regular blu ray?

Buy a PS3... it's a 3D blu-ray player, Blu-ray player, DVD player, cd player, Netflix portal, Hulu and pandora portal DNLA portal, picture portal.. oh, and its a game system too.... u get the idea

add: and yes.. only 3D blu ray discs will play on a 3D TV with 3D glasses.

I have a LG LHB335 BLU-RAY DISC⢠HOME THEATER SYSTEM ( which is not 3D). Now I bought a 3D TV. So I want to buy 3D blu ray player. My question is Can I buy any 3D blu ray player and connect my home theater system which I have from LG LHB335? Will the sound system work with any 3D blu ray player? or should I buy a new 3D blu ray player with sound system again? Please help me to understand this
