So The Legend of Korra, Book One is coming out in dvd and blu ray. Blu ray has commentary on every episode, which something I really want. The problem is I don't have a blu ray player. Is there any other way I can watch it? Like on my computer or something?

Yes. You will need to get a internal blue ray burner for your desktop or external blue ray drive for your laptop.
Then you need application to run it on.

Panasonic is widely regarded as the best for the money however coming from a custom installation perspective Sony is much better. Especially when you want to control it with a universal remote. The playstation 3 is great but awful with dual zone applications. It can't output both analog and digital audio at the same time making it useless with dual zone receivers. Also being controlled with Bluetooth it is also a pain to use with universal remotes.

Can a wifi enabled Blu Ray player with applications access them without a smart TV?

I have recently decided to purchase a home theater system/Blu Ray combo that is wifi enabled and has Netflix/Pandora/Youtube applications on it. I am also going to get a new TV but i don't really want a smart TV seeing as how they're a lot more expensive than regular LCD 1080p TV's.

I'm just wondering whether i need a smart TV in order to access the applications online, or if i can just connect to my wifi and the Blu Ray player will be able to use all of the applications by itself.

Also, i don't need full internet access on my TV, i was just hoping to use the applications that were already on the Blu Ray player like Youtube.

Just connect the blu-ray player to the TV, The blu-ray will do everything. The TV doesn't have to be Internet capable at all.

The make is Panasonic DMP-BD60 and it does not play region 1 blu ray discs. Is there a code or an application i can download that will allow me to watch region 1 movies?

You can buy a region free version of the Panasonic BD-60 (Link 1), but no hack codes are (yet) reported for region locked versions (See 2nd and 3rd link). That said, over half of Blu-ray disks are not region locked or multi region (see last link) and will play in any player.

I just go REPO! The Genetic Opera today, and I have the Blu-ray edition. I was just wondering what software I can use to play the movie on. Windows Media Center or Windows Media Player?

Vista (Ultimate) can view regular DVD movies without the add-on codec (i.e. a program to play movies), but it will not do BR.

Not only you will need a BR drive, you'll need a very fast computer (at least a dual-core), plenty of RAM and a dedicated graphic card (not the built-in one on the mother board).

PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra and PowerDVD 8 Ultra can play BR movies (7.3 can play HD-DVD movies, as well).

Due to the high computation requirement for Blu-ray discs, PowerDVD playback requires a high performance PC platform that is capable of maintaining 40 Mbps transferring of data. Discrete graphics solution is also required with at least 350Mhz clock rate with 256MB VRAM. Even if you met minimal requirements, you may experience some video quality drop, frame drops or lower performance. Is it possible to use smart tv applications without using any up grader?

My cousin was arguing with me yesterday about the same, he said itâs mandatory to connect a blu-ray player to your tv to have access to smart applications. My question is, if it is true then what is the worth of buying such an expensive TV? Why don't we just buy a normal LED-LCD TV.

Its practically the same. If you calculate how much a TV costs with or without the smart TV function, its practically the same as the blu-ray / smart converter. The main difference besides price is that when you use blu-ray/smart converters, its not relying on the processor of the TV. So if the TV has a dual core chip? (LG LM8600/LM9600 , Panasonic VT50) it will run way faster than running a bluray smart interface on a TV that doesnt have a preexisting smart platform. I'd recommend just getting a smart TV instead of getting a bunch of different fancy accessories/upgrades that may damage the TV in the long run.
