Need help connecting a video game console to blu ray player?

So we had an old DVD player which has the yellow, white, & red cables for video games & stuff in the front. Well my parents bought a blu ray player I don't know what model or whatever it is I just know it's panosonic. So I was in the mood for playing video games so I looked in the back of the blu ray player & it had the three cable input things so I connected the A / V cables to it then I turned on the blu ray player & it just had the home screen like of nothing was connected does anyone know how to fix this? My Ps3 Blu-ray player don't work any more. I think it his the motor that turn the disk. When I put my ear on the Ps3, I can hear the lens trying to move, and the blue light stay on, don't blink, but nothing come to the menu. Also no erroe from the PS3.
My question is: Can I read original games, that I bot, from a external Blu-ray driver (on usb) and play from it. Or from my PC via network. I do have on my pc a Blu-ray driver.

I don't really think this is possible. Is your PS3 still under warranty? You shall get it repaired for free;.

Also, try the same game in other consoles, from a friend, or other games in your console. It might also be the disc is scratched or dirty, or even your PS3 inside lens are dirty. Anyway send it to repair ASAP.

Easy answer, no. Blu Ray is owned by Sony, so M-Soft will have nothing to do with it. Instead though, M-Soft will be creating a HD player of their own. If they went with Blu Ray, Sony could essentially demand a share of the profits from Xbox sales since it's their invention and a registered trademark and patent of the Sony Corperation.

My wife and I just got a nice HDTV so now we want a Blu-ray player to go with it. I already have an Xbox 360 so I don't really need a new gaming console, but I figured as long as I'm getting a Blu-ray player anyway I might as well get a PS3. There are a couple PS3 exclusive games I want, but the main reason we'd be getting it would be to watch Blu-Ray movies. I've heard that watching movies on some consoles will shorten the life of the console, so I was wondering if that was an issue with the PS3. If we watch tons of Blu-ray movies on the PS3 would it shorten the life of it? Or did Sony make the system tough enough to handle this sort of use? Also, how is the interface on the PS3 Blu-ray player? Is it user-friendly enough that my wife could figure it out if I'm not around?

You have to consider just why the life is shortened.

If you only play a few games every now and again, watching movies on the console will obviously add quite a bit of running hours on it.

Sony had problems with this on the PS2, and Microsoft had problems with this on the Xbox. The idea was fairly new, though, and the drives in those consoles, as well as the ventillation, just weren't up to the task.

They say the PS3 is better. Well, it might be. We will see. I bought the protection plan on mine just in case. So far, it has been used primarily for movies since I bought it with no ill effects whatsoever. I no longer worry about it.

As for ease of use, it is a bit more complex than a standard player, but it is an incredibly good player, one of the best. As a matter of fact, it currently IS the best, minus one little issue that will only irritate you if you have one heck of a sound system, and are an audiophile. I am, it bugs me a bit. Most aren't, and they don't understand what the fuss is about.

It won't bitstream the new HD codecs. If you don't understand what that means, you will never know the difference. You still will get HD sound, so don't worry about it one bit. I repeat: If you don't understand that, you have nothing to worry about at all.

The rest of the PS3 makes it by far the best player on the market, but that comes with some caveats. Being the best means lots of options with fancy names. If your wife isn't the best with that sort of thing, be SURE to buy the optional remote control, as it will make it all as easy to use as most players.

If you have a person in your household that isn't that good with electronics, just buy that remote, and you should be as fine as you ever were.

If you worry about the BluRay discs reducing the life, get the thing from Best Buy, and buy the protection plan. They honor that plan well, but it is expensive.

I've recently bought a PS4 and I've owned the PS3 (first slim edition) for a long while now. Out of my own curiosity to see which bdp (bluray disc player) had the best performance, I popped in the lord of the rings 3 and watched the same scene over and over again. The PS3 looked sharper. I'm not sure why that was. I could not understand why the older device played blurays better than the newer bdp. One reason I can think of is that the PS3 does have MUCH more Video Playback settings than the PS4 which I can only recall it having a 1080p/24 playback mode, but that was about it. Maybe it was that? I do not know. There have been a bunch of firmware updates that have happened since I ran that test and maybe one of those corrected the performance of bluray playback, however I'm sticking with the PS3 for my bdp. Not to mention the PS3 can play my 3D blurays and the others cannot. Keep in mind that from what I've experienced from the PS3 and the PS4, both have fan noise that can sometimes be a distraction. I'm not sure how fan noise is on the Xbox One as I do not own the Xbox (and have no plan to due to my own personal reasons) but I know that it supposedly has good ventilation but does have some fan noise as well (pretty much every gaming console has fan noise these days). As a console, I'm recommending the PS4 due to the actual Hardware that's inside. I believe fancy User Interfaces is something that can be improved or added later.

At this point, I would rarely recommend the PS3 since it is no longer Next-Gen, unless you've never played one before and want to play the excellent library of games on the PS3. Last thing: If you want a good stand alone bluray player, check out the Panasonic BDT-230 or Sony BDP-S5100. Those are good bluray players and have 0 fan noise.

buy a blu-ray player? you can get them cheap lately...thats what i did.

Besides why would i want to put wear and tear on my gaming console so i can watch movies? If you play movies on your console it still causes wear and tear on the console and personally i think that wear and tear should be left for gaming.

Yeah 3-5 movies no big deal but if you watch 100 movies on your console that is a lot of hours of life time wasted.

Do what i did and buy a blu-ray player seperately...

The CDC is coming tomorrow morning to our house to remove mold with some sort of gas filled canisters and we're supposed to stay out of the house for four days. What should I remove from my home to protect it? Should I take my food in the pantry, computers, Blu-ray players, books, TV, plants, pictures, DVDs, video games and consoles, refrigerator or freezer foods, tea bags, clothes, stuffed animals, VHS tapes, medicines, cups, etc.? My entire family will be staying with relatives for the next few days. We're obviously packing the essentials: clothes, toothbrushes, etc. But I'm talking about taking stuff to protect it from the chemicals.

Would you recommend the PS3 as a good Blu-Ray player, or should I get a standalone player?

I'm Looking into a Blu-Ray player, and I'm wondering if the PS3 would be a good choice for one. I'm also into video games, and I already own a Wii and a 360. However, I know many other Blu-Ray players are less than the $300 price the PS3 has. Any tips/recommendations?

Since Blu-Ray is a relatively new technology, get a player that is able to get firmware updates in case there are changes to the media. The PS3 is an excellent choice there.

A perfect example of this: Remember older DVD players cannot play CDs or burned disks, aren't compatible with MP3s, JPGs, or even AVIs. Some even had a hard time recognizing dual-layer discs. If they were able to upgrade the firmware in the player, they might still be useful today.

PS3 is so much more than just a gaming console, also. You can stream music, movies, and pictures from your PC, stream TV and movies from the internet, have access to all the NetFlix instant movies to your main entertainment system. It is also an upscaling DVD player, web browser, WiFi connectivity built in...

PS3 is a great choice if it is in your budget.

Is there a way to connect netflix through cable?

Q. I have an older tv that I want to have netflix. Is there a way to stream movies through a router through the cable. If not is there another way to do this without an gaming console or blu ray player.

Hmm not really sure either if you can actually stream Netflix through a router through the cable on older tvs.

But if you save Netflix streaming to the hard disk on your computer I guess then you should be able to connect the tv through the cable and playback the movie.

There's actually some Audials piece of software that, among other things, is also able to capture, record and save streaming movies from Netflix subscription.

Of course I've only used it to save a couple of Netflix streaming videos for offline watching on some trip, but other than that it actually works pretty good: it's reliable and the videos and movies you save from Netflix are in pretty good quality.

Dunno what else to say, guess this is one of your options if you ask me.

The V-chip works much like closed captioning to send and receive a special code in the programming which indicates the show's score according to a simple numerical rating system for violence, sex, and language. The programs signals are encoded according to their rating using the XDS protocol; this is detected by the television sets' V-chip. If the program's rating is outside the level configured as acceptable on that particular television, the program is blocked.

The V-chip has a 4 digit numerical password in order to keep older children from changing its settings. However, it can be overridden by anyone who read the television's manual to find out how to reset the password to 0000 (built into the V-chip in case the parents themselves forget the password that they set).

For a blu-ray player (like ps3) do you NEED and HDTV, or will my really old tv from the 80s work?

I am not aware of any video device currently sold that only has HD output. You can use the standard A/V cable supplied with the PS3 to output composite video to any old TV that has the standard trio of yellow/white/red inputs for the video, left audio channel and right audio channel, respectively. If it's an ultra-cheap TV, sometimes they only had the coaxial input for cable or an antenna, but if your TV has the yellow, white and red RCA jacks the PS3 can feed it. Even my Panasonic Blu-Ray play that connects to the Internet and plays HD videos from Youtube has the old composite and S-video outputs. You absolutely can use the PS3 on most ancient TVs if you don't mind it looking a bit fuzzy...
