Can I hook up a new dvd or blu-ray player to my old home theatre system?

Q. I have a Panasonic SA-HT940 home theatre system and the HDMI port is messed up so I am looking into buying a new dvd player. I am wondering if it is possible to hook up a new dvd or blu-ray player to the old surround sound speaker system.

Answer
You can not connect the new DVD ot Blu Ray disc player directly to the old home theater system you have. But you can connect it directly to the tv and then connect an optical cable from the tv to the home theater to get the sound. You can also connect the optical cable directly to the home theater. Hope this will help you out.

Can I use a home theater Blu-Ray player for a PC?

Can I use a home theater Blu-Ray player for an HP Elite PC with a high def video card, TV tuner and HDMI port?

Answer
You will have to worry about whether the HD video card HDMI port is an output or an input. If -- as I suspect -- it's an output (intended to go to a monitor or TV) you can't INPUT a signal from the output of the Blu-ray player.

Frankly, I think you would be better to consider an internal or external Blu-ray drive for the computer, rather than a standalone Blu-Ray player. HOWEVER, consider whether your computer is up to handling HD (in addition to the video subsystem there are minimum CPU and RAM requirements).

Hope that helps.

Hi

I just bought f5550hk samsung blu ray player
i tried to karaoke but, it seems like the karaoke volume is very slow
When i max my volume i can hear very slow sound , like almost gone
theres no mic volume control in the setting.

What should i do? Or is this series doesnt support karaoke?

Thanks

Answer
Those home theater in a box are not flexible for adding anything to them or for up grading. It is mainly designed for watching a movie with the built in player with surround sound. Keep in mind that surround sound are only available on DVD and blu ray disc movies and some video games. Karaoke are not the same as what you have. Hope this will help you out.

Do they make home theater system with 3d blu ray players?

Ana T

or just regular blu ray players?

Answer
They do, but they suck hard. I would steer clear of "home theater systems" if I were you. they tipically have never few, if any inputs, so it's almost impossible to connect your other components.

I would also like to point out that most home theater in a box systems (HTiB) have high failure rates. These high failure rates are mainly due to overheating since these systems try to jam so much into one small chassis.

If you double your budget, you can easily get 10 times the quality and 10 times the enjoyment from a decent component system.

How do I add a home theater system to my Sony BDP-S590 blu ray player without a Receiver?

I have a Sony BDP S590 3D blu ray player and would like to add a home theater system to it without investing in another Receiver. How can I do it? Any recommendations on a reasonable system that I can buy? Let me know. Thanks!

Answer
You don't. It is not practical as evidenced by all the other answers. The only way to do it with practicality is to buy a surround preamp / processor and powered speakers but such will cost far more than a surround receiver. Unless you have some kind of receiver - phobia this is not practical. You can not just plug speakers into a blu ray or DVD player, there is no magical adapter - unless you consider a receiver an adapter. Now choose a best answer.

Connecting blu ray player to existing home theater?

Can music

I have a basic dvd home theater and I would like to connect a blu ray player to it. What would I need to do this?
Also, my home theater does NOT have the optical cable option.

Answer
Connect your Blueray player directly to your HDTV using HDMI. Connect the digital audio out from your HDTV to your older DVD surround sound system. This can be done with either and optical Toslink cable, or a coaxial digital audio cable depending upon what your TV and old surround sound system has.

Your next upgrade is a standalone receiver, and speakers :-)

EDIT: If you post the model number of you DVD home theater system, we might be able to figure out a solution. Standalone receivers are much better.
