a blu ray what? if it is just a blu ray disc player it won't get you to the internet.
look at the inputs and outputs on each device you want before you spend any money. blu ray is just one way of connecting devices.
you will usually want a device that has a browser like your computer to surf the internet.
if you buy a smart tv get one with a qwerty keyboard for easier surfing than with a tv style remote.
if you buy a regular monitor make sure it has inputs for your computer.
if you are buying a computer make sure it has a video output for a tv or external monitor.
regardless of whether you buy an internet-ready smart tv, you need connectivity to the internet such as a cellular or fios or cable company device.
there are cellular usb adapters from your cellphone company that will allow your laptop to be more portable if you travel beyond the reach of friendly wi-fi.
some people like to use their cellular phones to browse the internet or visit it with apps.

i would definitely say that the 2nd one is better.

my basis for that is the video card, the gtx 560 ti is significantly faster than the gtx 460, here are links to both cards benchmark performance:

since the second one also has an i7-2600 and 8gb RAM, then it is a very good build and based on my experience, if a computer is good for gaming then it is basically good for everything else.

your gtx 560 ti could practically play all games at max settings except BF3 bec i was told that it takes a gtx 570 to max out BF3 at 1080p resolution.

BTW : just make sure that your power supply is at least 600w-650w, bec the requirement of the gtx 560 ti is 500w. goodluck :D

My advice is not to buy the Alienware because it is a lot more expensive and the difference is just in the namebrand. The HP looks very similar and I would go with the HP instead. You can always upgrade the HP with better or different parts IF you order the computer from them on line and speak to an HP sales rep. You can do this on line with HP and chat with them on their chat site directly. HP also has good return and repair policies and a quick turn around time in case you need to RMA it for repair.

One other thing, the HP model has 8 gigs of RAM while the ALienware only has 3??? What the heck is that all about?

I was in the same position as you, the Samsung Smart TV had very poor web performance and most the apps did not function with their supplied QWERTY remote. I ended up buying the Sony EX723 LED/LCD from Best Buy with the Google Blu-ray player. This way I got a great 120Hz TV but with the Google Blu-ray player I got the all the features that the Google TV has but in a blu-ray player.

How can I convert my new Samsung Plasma TV into Smart TV with QWERTY remote?

I just bought my first TV. It's a 60" Samsung PN60F5300. I got a great deal on it, which allowed me to go to 60", but I don't have Smart TV capability. The salesman told me I could get a Smart box (like Roku, Vizio Co-Star, or NetGear NeoTV MAX) or a Blu-ray player with smart TV capabilities, and it would be a similar result. I don't have a DVD player, so I will need to buy one regardless. I am looking to get good quality, reliable electronics, without breaking the bank...so really, I'm just looking for good value. It is also a HUGE benefit for me to get a QWERTY remote for the Smart TV apps.

My choices:
1) Get a Smart set-top box that comes with a QWERTY remote and a plain Blu-ray player
2) Get a Smart set-top box, buy a separate QWERTY remote, and a plain Blu-ray player
3) Get a Smart DVD player and purchase a separate QWERTY remote
4) Return the TV and just buy a 50" Smart Vizio LED E-series TV that comes with a QWERTY keyboard (This would cost $35 more than the TV I have now, but I would lose 10" of screen size. I would still need to buy a plain Blu-ray player.)

My questions:
1) Which options provide the most value for a good price?
2) What brands would you recommend for these items?
3) If I buy a Blu-ray player or set-top box without a QWERTY remote, is it even possible to get one separately that will work? What product would this be?

Please help! Any advice or recommendations are welcomed! Thank you in advance!
I don't really need any gaming at all, and I'm thinking about cost, so PS3 or XBox probably won't work with my budget as well as the other options.

Yes, the Xbox seems like the winner, if it's not too expensive. If you wouldn't need the Blu-ray player, the Roku 3 has been a great success. New interface, faster hardware etc.

Would you use a remote with a mic?

Like to search on Netflix ,Hulu , or Google tv. Instead of typing in the name. You just say the name of the movie or program into the mic on the remote. Then the remote processes the audio then sends it to the device ( like xbox /ps3 /wifienabled blu ray player ) .Just wanted some feedback on this idea.
