why are there no univeral remote codes available for blu ray players?

Stovitch

I have a Samsung BP-1500 blu ray and I can't find a remote code that will control it on my all in one remote.

Answer
I just checked the database and the BP-1500 is supported by the The Logitech/Harmony remotes. This includes anything from the 510 series up. NOTE: Blu-Ray players are currently listed in the DVD Player section in the Harmony database, so have a look there.

You can find a complete list at the hyperlink below:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/remotes/universal_remotes/&cl=us,en

Logitech/Harmony maintains an on-line database of over 5000 devices and is updated weekly. The remotes comes with bundled software that allows you to connect to the Internet, download new IR codes and transfer them into the remote over an included USB cable.

I picked up the Logitech 550 a few months ago and only wish I would have bought it sooner. I even found codes for my Comcast DVR and a rather obsecure component switcher device. I can power everything on with a single touch and I can setup unlimted macros.

I recently got a Panasonic DMP-BDT210 Blu-ray player. I noticed the remote for it had a section on it of buttons for your tv. How do I program it for my tv? I can't find codes, or instructions anywhere.

Answer
Go to this website and download the operating manual in pdf format.

I am trying to find the remote code to program my Onkyo S-3500 Home Theater System remote to work with my Sony blu-ray disc player (BDP-S185/BX18). It looks like the Onkyo remote is specifically the RC-799M.

Answer
BD/DVD is preprogrammed with the remote control code for controlling a component that supports the RIHD (limited to some models). The component must be able to receive remote control commands via RIHD and be connected to the AV receiver via HDMI.

Use the following remote control codes:

32910 / 33001 / 31612:
Blu-ray Disc/DVD player with RIHD

The RIHD supported by the AV receiver is the CEC system control function of the HDMI standard.

So what Onkyo are saying is that the remote isn't a conventional IR programmable remote. What it does instead is use the HDMI feature called CEC. This is control via the HDMI cable instead of IR. The Blu-ray player must also support CEC, which Sony call it "Bravia Sync". You'll need to make sure that Bravia Sync is switched on in the Blu-ray player menus if it supports the feature. http://esupport.sony.com/docs/imanual/NA/EN/2a-2/brsync_uc.html

How do I get the menu t the top of the screen to go away?
