blu-ray playback and burning software (Windows 7)?

I just received a BD-RE drive for Christmas and I am now in need of some software. (Currently running Windows 7, fyi.) I was considering Nero for blu-ray burning but I was wondering if there's a better program (I was never a fan of Nero back in the old days.) Not worried about price here, just a good recommendation. Also, I need a program for blu-ray playback... currently just have Media Player Classic installed for watching video files.

Thanks for any help. Will choose best answer out of the bunch.
Doubt it matters, but I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate.

How do I watch Blu-ray movies on Windows 7?

I recently purchased a brand new MSI A6300 notebook. It comes with a blu-ray player and Windows 7. I have tried to use Intervideo WinDVD 8. But unfortunately, it does not play any BD discs. Supposedly Corel does not support this version of the software anymore.

Are there any alternative programs I can download for free to watch Bluray movies on Windows 7?

If it has a built in Blue Ray CD/DVD drive you do not need any additional software than what is installed on the laptop. Read the user guide/manual for the laptop section on using the optical drive.

Why won't my digital copy of "Iron Man 2" work?

I have a Windows 7 computer. I am trying to redeem my digital copy of "Iron Man 2" through Windows Media Player 12. Every time I click to get started, it keeps telling me that I need to upgrade my security component in the media player. It gives a link, but the upgrade button isn't clickable. I have tried this several times and it never works. I am starting to get really frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you need to look for the type files that Iron Man 2 because it might be Blu Ray thing. You need to find a compatible software with it. If you will copy the DVD files to your computer, it might embedded securight that might not crack. Good luck bud. God bless

I am forming a small band and we would like to have a software that helps us whenever we play. We would need it to show play one or more instruments, show the lyrics, create playlists, and mix songs. It would be great if it would also let us record our own songs. We don´t mind paying for it, but we need it to work on Windows.

I just go REPO! The Genetic Opera today, and I have the Blu-ray edition. I was just wondering what software I can use to play the movie on. Windows Media Center or Windows Media Player?

Vista (Ultimate) can view regular DVD movies without the add-on codec (i.e. a program to play movies), but it will not do BR.

Not only you will need a BR drive, you'll need a very fast computer (at least a dual-core), plenty of RAM and a dedicated graphic card (not the built-in one on the mother board).

PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra and PowerDVD 8 Ultra can play BR movies (7.3 can play HD-DVD movies, as well).

Due to the high computation requirement for Blu-ray discs, PowerDVD playback requires a high performance PC platform that is capable of maintaining 40 Mbps transferring of data. It is recommended that you use a system with at minimal of Intel Dual Core 3.2Ghz processors and 2GB RAM system memory (Quad Core CPU is supported.) Discrete graphics solution is also required with at least 350Mhz clock rate with 256MB VRAM. Even if you met minimal requirements, you may experience some video quality drop, frame drops or lower performance. How to get blu ray to work?

Dumb tards at Microsoft screwed Windows 7 into not having a built in Blu Ray player. How can I play my videos now? I tried to download PowerDVD 9 - graphics card not supported, also Corel WinDVD - Disc not supported. I have an LG DVD/Blu combo optical drive and the software I got to work in Vista was PowerDVD. Could you help me out?
The graphics card should be fine, albeit I ran BluRay movies fine in Vista.

graphics card may not be big enough to support hi def resolution of blu ray upgrade graphics card i have only a radeon 2400hd pro and it has a hdmi output a dvi output and a vga output and it works good for me card only cost 75.00 but i bought it at wal-mart it works good enough for me it can support up to a 32 inch lcd tv this is what i use to watch all movies tv an internet all through my computer only have cable to have internet hope this helps a little someone may know more but i don't have windows 7 upgrade but had the same problem with installing a combo drive like you have but i have a liteon blu ray dvd player/burner i updated the software that came with the player and it worked for me after i fixed the graphics card
