I have a philips bdp3000 blu ray player set at dvd region 0 in the uk (pal), im just about to buy a dvd which is unavailable in the uk, it is set at region 1 usa (ntsc), will it play on my pal player?

This may be the same one you found. Did you try it?

1. Open the tray
2. press the following sequence using the number keys: 98790 (this is equivalent to the code 9879 with the zero at the end representing all regions)
3. Press Close Tray - there should be a sign on the TV screen saying something like 'Region set to 0'
4. Turn off the DVD player for 5 seconds
5. Turn on the DVD player.

Ok, the dark knight blu-ray disc will have the same content as the 2 disc regular dvd. the picture on the blu-ray will be better. the details of the blu-ray version are listed below. the content is usually the same as the regular dvd. if you have a blu-ray dvd player. i would go with the blu-ray version

I am the videographer for my theater group and we want to start recording dvd's to sell in the student bookstore at my school. We don't want anybody copying and distributing them at the school. Although we don't plan on selling more than 20 copies of each of our improv troops exploits, it does give us a piece of mind knowing that we aren't getting ripped off for all the hard work we put into our act each month. Please Help!!!!!!

DVD protections can be divided into six types:
(1) CSS, it works by decoding encrypted DVDs with a module built into the player;

(2) Sony ArccOS, this Protection is designed to be combined with the Content Scramble System to further impede illegal reproduction of discs.

(3) AACS, it is one copy protection method for digital rights management to restrict copying of the next generation optical discs - Blu-ray and HD DVD;

(4) BD+, it prevents Blu-ray Disc from unauthorized copying and playback, and acts as a virtual machine to authenticate the key and unscramble the contents for normal playback;

(5) Region Code, it is widely used to restrict the playback of either DVD or Blu-ray Disc in different regions.

(6) BD-live, part of the Blu-ray Profile 2.0, is the authorizing system to let Blu-ray customers download movie extras and even Blu-ray copies online.
