There's an opportunity for me to buy a Blu-Ray player very cheap, but I'm not planning on buying a High-Def TV until later (next year).
Will it still work on my regular TV using component cables?
Will the movies "play" correctly?
Will I be able to access all the content on the discs?

Please help! Thanks!

Answer
of course you can ! And you already know the resolution will downgrade to your existing TV resolution / just think for a moment how badly an appliance manufacturer would screw themselves if they made their equipment incompatible with a huge installed base of TV owners who may not have some HD standard since there so many different ones or just a standard TV.

Companies like Sony and Panasonic wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot by making their players incompatible with people like you who don't yet have / but plan on buying an HD TV.

Also, consider the Sony PlayStation 3, is a BluRay player since many of their games come on the larger BluRay capacity disc and those also play fine on convetional and numerously different formatted HD / EDTV's.

Look at it a different way, lets say this BluRay player doesn't work with your TV for whatever reasons, research how much you could resell it for used on Amazon's Marketplace and compare what you're planning on paying for it to what you could resell it for.

If you can sell it for more than you paid for it then the decision for you to go ahead and purchase in anticipation for using it now, or waiting until you upgrade, or just reselling it for a profit.

Use those three factors as your criteria and make it a business decision.

What is the best Blu-ray player at a good price?

I'm looking for a Blu-ray player that plays regular DVDs, Blu-ray DVDs, and has Netflix on it. I'm also looking for a good bargain as well. Nothing too cheap, but something of good quality and affordable as well.
