I wanted to get a Xbox 360 or PS3, but I didnt know which one to get. Which one is better? Which one should I get?

Answer
Its all on preference and on what kinds of hardware you already have.
If you want a Blu Ray player, but don't want to buy one as well as a game console, you'll best go with PS3. If you already have a Blu Ray player or you don't want one, and you simply want a game console for 'gaming', Xbox will be a better choice.

Yes Xbox charges a subscription for its online services, buts its very affordable and for the kinds of stability, reliability and general quality of the online experience attained. If the online side of the argument is strong, then Xbox will be almost a no brainier. Also, if your big on getting online games and expansions early, Xbox is also a better choice. The PS3's servers are really disappointing in comparison with the Xbox's servers and online support.

If your a graphics whore, then your probably more lenient towards PS3, but you probably didn't know that the majority of games are only slightly better than the Xbox, and some games are actually worse. Again, PS3 is Blu ray and can show better graphics and hold more memory on the one CD, but you rarely ever come across a situation where the PS3 totally overshadows the Xbox with this part of its performance.

The original 'white' Xbox 360 was a little unreliable, especially compared to the PS3. With the new Xbox 'short' / Slim. The whole unreliability and Red Ring Of Death is gone. They are a huge deal more stable and there is actually no such thing as a red ring anymore. Even some of the later white 360's were a load more reliably than the earlier models.

If your going in for which console has more grunt and power, you'll be surprised to find that the Xbox actually has a slight advantage. Even more so with the release of the slim. ( The PS3 slim is really bad. if your going to go for a PS3 please buy a fat one, they will work much better and are a great deal more reliable.)

Games... PS3 and Xbox have a bit fight over which exclusives are better, and in total of games and expansions etc. the Xbox has a advantage as they have deals with almost every second company to get exclusive downloadable content and expansions. But with actual retail games, its fully preference. Don't just settle on Halo V.S Little Big Planet, look at ALL of the exclusives. Also, keep in mind most of the exclusives are now on both platforms, and future exclusives are actually being made for both platforms. This part of the 'war' is really starting to fizzle away. ( Xbox has a much wider range of exclusives through their arcade section.)

A few things that PS3 has over Xbox is it has more freedom over what it can do with a computer and other pieces of hardware. Like being able browse the internet ( A largely used argument, somewhat useless) and it can hold a much larger amount of storage. Though the gap is slowly being closed as Xbox brings out its larger hard drives.

A little overview:

Graphics - PS3 has a slight advantage over Xbox, though its not often seen.
Games - Its purely preference. If you want PS3 exclusives or Xbox. go with the respective console.
Power - Xbox has a slight advantage.
Online - Xbox has a huge advantage.
General Entertainment ( Movies + music ) - If your looking for a general entertainment device more than a gaming console, PS3 might have a bit of an advantage. But if you really want more of a gaming console with a slight bit of 'entertainment', Xbox has more of an advantage.

(People take the maturity of the player base in account too. Xbox has more 'kids' on it because it was cheaper at the time thus more parents bought it for their kids. But the player base on the Xbox has more mature players in actual number than the PS3, it just doesn't have the smaller fraction of child players. If that makes sense. The PS3 has a much smaller % of its players being kids, but the Xbox has many, many more players.)

P.S A big part of this argument is preference, you need to decide what you want and why. then go off that.

The final xbox vs ps3 comparison?

I will give my , in depth , opinion about the console wars, and I want to hear what you have to say about it as well.

First off the ps3
Has better graphics
Ps3 has better exclusives since xbox is shipping some of them off to the ps3
Has blu ray player
Same price as 360
Lower fail rate
Shorter warranty
Laggy online
Free online
Dosent break your games
Scratch resistant disks
And a subscription that gives younloads of free stuff

Xbox 360
More cartoonish graphics
Same price as ps3
High fail rate
Longer warranty
Larger community
Expesive to play online
Better features then the ps3
Faster
And xbox is loaded with fanboys so watch out ps3 fans

So I would choose the ps3 only because I can't afford to buy 2 copies of black ops and a new console for every time i get the rrod and I also can't afford 60 bucks a yearfor online
