I have a Sony Blu-ray player at home. When I watch Blu-ray discs on 1080p, the black/dark images are fuzzy, and some shading is too. I got too annoyed with that so I changed the setting to 1080i. That is working out great. I wanted to know what was causing the fuzziness with the 1080p and if I'm missing anything with the 1080i.

Well the problem is most likely with your connection or with your tv, not with your blu ray player. The 1080i setting is just the lower setting. 1080p is the max quality setting, so if it was the player, the 1080i/720p setting would do the same thing.
What is the max quality allowed by your tv? If it is new it should either be 720p or 1080p. The older system was categorized by 480i, 720i, 1080i. 1080i is the same as 720p.
If your tv is 1080i max quality and you are trying to play in 1080p, it will have a problem because it is not able to handle the high resolution quality. Also, if your tv settings are not optimized, it could be that your tv settings are off. This also may be related to the fact that it could just be your tv period, with everything working fine, that's just the way your tv is made. Some tv's play darker than others, even though they are working fine, just from the way that they are designed from the company.
To make sure, call your blu ray or tv brand customer service phone number and have them troubleshoot to identify and solve the problem.

I am looking for a blu-ray player which is silver plastic with black buttons and green LED indicators, aqua fluorescent display, squared lines, etc. Does such a thing exist?

A lot of people are looking for a silver face Blu Ray player, as I have found when doing some searching. But in the US market, the bulk of brands are exporting their black face versions over here.
At this point, you'll have to be stuck with black - or build a home theater PC in silver fitted with a Blu Ray drive.
