Looking for a Blu-ray player with these features?

Visionflag

Does any one know of a blu ray player (besides the ps3) that plays .avi, .mkv, mp4 etc containers and also has virutally all the codecs for each (ie.DV file, an MPEG-4, part 2, file, a Divx file) and can also stream HD content using DLNA?

Answer
This Panasonic DMP-BD110 is the fourth BD player that I have purchased in since 2007 (my first being the Panasonic DMP-BD10A, second a Sharp HP20, third a Panasonic DMP-BD60). As you can imagine, the last thing I really needed was another BD player, however, I just got a great deal on a 3D tv and, well, you know how it goes.

Will an ordinary DVD work on a Blu-Ray player?

Q. Will it still play my ordinary DVDs?
I don't have one, but we have been considering getting one :b

Answer
BD players are backward compatible. They ALL play Blu-ray disks, DVDs and CDs. Some play other formats (e.g. DivX). Not only do BD players play DVDs, they 'upconvert' the video to psudo-HD. Some do a better job than others, but the best ones make DVD look pretty close to Blu-ray. Anyone buying a disk player today should seriously consider a Blu-ray player since it provides flexibility to play whatever disks your favorite movie/show is on.
