blu ray player 24p image

I might get a 720p 32"-37" hdtv. I do not notice a difference with Optimum Cablevision cable in Westchester, NY but I have not seen a bluray at 720p yet. My Panasonic blu ray player has an option for 24p and I was wondering if I should have it on all the time or only for certain things?

24p is usually not properly processed by TVs that even say 24p processing. Blu-Ray has an icredibly higher bitrate for audio and video. Sure it has a higher resolution, but it's not compressed in any way like DVD. Everyone thinks Blu-Ray is better because it's 1080p, but in reality that is only a minor advantage.
1080p only makes a difference in very big TVs that are over 60". Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
32-37" 1080p TVs usually have better contrast ratios, brightness, color accuracy, etc. 1080p in that small of a size is usually reserved for premium TVs with better features other than just 1080p
If it's 720p, it may have worse picture quality which has nothing to do with resolution.
It's kind of hard to explain because whenever a TV is 1080p it's usually better because it will have other features that make the image quality better. Lol, it has nothing to do with 1080p though!

I have an LG 42 inch plasma and just bought a blu-ray player but 24p output is a little distorted?

the movie plays fine with 24p output but it plays a litte distorted but doesnt freeze or anything.
does this mean that my tv doesnt hold for the 24p output or maybe i just need a better HDMI cable?

Something made recently, like in the last 10 years?
Did you know that todays movies were never done on film at 24 frames per second?
They were all done using Cameras/DVDs that run at 30 frames per second.
It's the OLD FILM movies from the 20's up to the early 90's that should be watched using the 24 frame mode....
