What is the Onkyo S-3500 remote code for Sony Blu-ray Disc player?

Glimmer

I am trying to find the remote code to program my Onkyo S-3500 Home Theater System remote to work with my Sony blu-ray disc player (BDP-S185/BX18). It looks like the Onkyo remote is specifically the RC-799M.

Answer
BD/DVD is preprogrammed with the remote control code for controlling a component that supports the RIHD (limited to some models). The component must be able to receive remote control commands via RIHD and be connected to the AV receiver via HDMI.

Use the following remote control codes:

32910 / 33001 / 31612:
Blu-ray Disc/DVD player with RIHD

The RIHD supported by the AV receiver is the CEC system control function of the HDMI standard.

So what Onkyo are saying is that the remote isn't a conventional IR programmable remote. What it does instead is use the HDMI feature called CEC. This is control via the HDMI cable instead of IR. The Blu-ray player must also support CEC, which Sony call it "Bravia Sync". You'll need to make sure that Bravia Sync is switched on in the Blu-ray player menus if it supports the feature. http://esupport.sony.com/docs/imanual/NA/EN/2a-2/brsync_uc.html

Do universal remotes also operate Blu Ray players?

Marqk

I have a Curtis Blu Ray player which I love but for some reason the remote doesn't operate the volume properly or sometimes the play button doesn't work so I am thinking of buying a universal remote

Answer
Try putting new batteries first, sometimes that will solve the problem many people ruin their remotes by pressing harder and harder on the buttons when what they really need to do is replace the batteries first...many universal remotes will also work with blu ray players usually right on the box it will tell you what blu ray players it can control....
