I am still trying to get the whole HD audio thing understood. Maybe it's just me being OCD, but hearing that the PS3 internally decodes those two HD audio formats, but doesn't light up on my receiver, irritates me. Do I just accept it? Get a stand-alone blu-ray player? It seems like no matter what home theatre receiver you use, it's going to be the same thing if you use the PS3.
I am connecting via HDMI.

Answer
For the time being itâs best to just accept the limitations of your PS3 as they are not so great to warrant purchasing a new BD player if you do not own a reasonably high-end surround sound audio system. Also, many of the latest mainstream BD players (such as those models reviewed below) still cannot offer better performance than the PS3 when playing DVD-Video discs, which continue to serve as one of the primary sources of pre-recorded movies in most peopleâs homes. Continuing to use the PS3, which is an extraordinary value, should buy you enough time for the eventual release of reasonably priced BD players that noticeably outperform the PS3 in overall A/V performance and functionality.

Please read the reviews below, which compare the respective BD players to Sonyâs PS3, to get a perspective on what the latest BD players offer relative to a PS3.

Where can I find the right blu-ray player?

I would like a blu ray player in the $120-200 price range that has streamable content (such as netflix and pandora) and will be able to read .vob files off of a usb drive. Is there any blu-ray player that fits my description?

Answer
Below is a hot link that features Phillips blu-ray player and others around the price point you have requested.

Best.
