I recently ordered a Blu ray copy of "Fantasia" from amazon used. In the mail I received a copy from Italy, and its in Italian. Would this Blu ray work on a player bought here in the US? (I don't believe there is any talking in the film, so I don't have to worry about language issues?)

Answer
"Global region codes identify specific DVDs and Blu-ray discs that are compatible with the players typically sold in that region. The majority of all current titles play in only one specific region unless otherwise noted. " For more information about Blu-ray code, you can refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc.
If you want to make this disc work, you can try to rip it to other formats or use Blu-ray Player software, if you have a blu-ray drive.

What's the difference between a blu-ray disc player and a regulary dvd player?

Are HD players and blu-ray disc players the same?

Answer
No. They are different branches of technology. They are both similar to DVD players, except they only play each respective type of High Definition DVD (Blu-Ray or HD-DVD). It's like Betamax and VHS. Similar technology but one is expected to rise above the other.

I think Blu-Ray is higher quality, but HD-DVD is more affordable. Not sure on this one though.
