is this apple macbook pro a good deal?

Spkey

hey guys, basically i want to purchase a mac (my first) and wondered if this deal was good?

It's the 2.54 ghz processor, 4gig ram, 320 gig hard drive core 2 duo model. says its a macbook pro 5.1 and seller said was purchased in late 09. i have knocked his price down from 700 to 600 English pounds, is that worth it for this model?

thanks for any help

Answer
Do you mean relative to other Apple MAC Pro's?
Apple is great operating system, excellent customer service, very good reliability, good weight and dimensions for the size, BUT
Always expensive and weak speed and graphics at the price. Here is a review on it:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Update-Apple-MacBook-Pro-5-1-Unibody-9600M-GT-9400M.12518.0.html
It was 2250 Euro when new. Seems to have a switchable operating system as Vista and Leopard.
Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53 GHz
4096 MB, GDDR3 1066 MHz
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT - 512 MB, Core: 500 MHz, Memory: 800 MHz, GDDR3 + GeForce 9400M (G), ForceWare 176.44 (Windows Vista)
Hitachi HTS543232L9SA02, 320GB 5400rpm S-ATA
Sound Realtek ALC885/889A
1 Express Card 34mm, 2 USB 2.0, 1 Firewire, 1 DisplayPort, 1 Kensington Lock, Audio Connections: optical /analogue audio in- and out, Uni-directional Irda for Apple Remote, FireWire 800, iSight (Webcam)
Networking 10/100/1000MBit Broadcom 802.11a/b/g/n (abgn), 2.0 + EDR Bluetooth
Matshita DVD-R UJ-868 ATA
height x width x depth (in mm): 24.1 x 364 x 249
Weight 2.49 kg
Battery 50 Wh Lithium-Polymer, 10.8V
Price 2249 Euro
Operating System Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit
Mac Os X 10.5 Leopard
Alternatives from Amazon:
Lenovo Ideapad Z575 15.6 inch Notebook - Gunmetal Grey (AMD A8-3500M, 8GB, 750GB, Radeon HD 6740G2 2GB, Blu ray, BT, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B006AASDE4/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&qid=1324940376&sr=1-18&condition=new
CPU is 64% faster, Twice the DRAM, 2.3 times the HDD, high midrange graphics vs low midrange so is better graphics processor and has 2GB VGRAM vs 0.5GB, and has a bluray player instead of a DVD. Is only 10/100 ethernet and no bluetooth, but does have HDMI and is 2.59kg vs 2.49, but has a 1 year warranty. Overall, a world above a used MAC.
Also, Samsung RC520 15.6 inch notebook (Intel Core i5 2410M 2.3GHz, 6Gb, 750Gb, DVD SuperMulti DL, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) - Black/Silv
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-notebook-SuperMulti-Windows-Premium/dp/B0053GLCDU/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1324940376&sr=1-1
Slightly lower graphics GT 520M compared with the Apple, but EVERY OTHER SPECIFICATION is better than or equal to the Apple, and some substantially better.
Would get the Samsung before the Apple in a heartbeat, and the Lenovo is also much better than the MAC, and there are other new choices.

For a MAC at 600 pounds, it is a good deal. To buy a used MAC with old technology vs a Samsung of the same size and weight and everything better or equal except the graphics processor as slightly worse and Samsung being new, I would not even think about the MAC.
