I've been told two contradictory opinions.
A/ that most blu rays players function at 80hz
B/ That these players work from 24hz to 60 and that most of the so called 50hz tv's are in fact 50-60hz.

So any definitive views before I purchase a player?

Answer
It's a UK VS USA thing.

50hz is normal for you, 60hz is normal for them.

I don't know where 80hz came from....

That being said, yes most movies are 24 progress frames, but that won't negatively effect your TV.

How to get Blu Ray firmware updates without Internet Connection?

Joe P

I'm always being told i need firmware updates to my Blu ray player, however I do not have it connected to the Internet. Connection can only be made through Ethernet and my Home Network is on another floor of the house. So how would i go about getting the proper updates? Do i even need updates, since I do not use any of the online features, I just use it to view DVDs and Blu rays?

Answer
you may need some firmware updates to play certain movies...blu ray players may have some updates to allow you to play 3d blu ray movies and transmit them into 3d...you need a 3d compatible tv, at the moment 120hz/120fps but soon to be 240hz/fps...because the picture is divided into 60hz instead of 120hz...so you may notice some choppiness but it's very minute when you play blu ray on 60hz tv instead of 120hz because blu rays play at 24hz and 24 doesn't divide easily into 60...best bet is to run a wire to it and a tv close to your router just so it displays on a tv and you can get the update then run it back to your normal tv you watch it on
