Answer
This is what I think, and how I would go about it in deciding what is worth owning on Blu-Ray.

Movies I think should be owned on Blu-Ray and NOT just DVD, IF you got the DVD first before there was Blu-Ray of it. Also If you are getting it on any format for the first time.

What is the best brand to buy for blue-ray player?

health guy

Not wanting to spend too much on a blue-ray player, what are brands to go with and which model.

Answer
The Samsung BD-P1500 is a great first blu ray player. I have the player connected via optical to my Denon receiver and via HDMI to my Pioneer PDP-5080HD and it looks and sounds fantastic. I also have a Toshiba HD-A3 and the PQ is very comparable. I do like that I can output a 1080p 24hz signal to my display which is a plus over my A3. I have had zero issues with BD playback. It works flawlessly. My only complaint, and it's minor, is that there is no fan in the player. Instead of a fan it uses the metal bottom as a heat sink and it can get very hot. I wouldn't recommend keeping the player in a closed cabinet because it can get very hot after extended use. Overall, this is a great player and a bargain at the current price.
